Case study – relocation assistance
Anne-Marie and Pat moved to Perpignan from Ireland in 2011 with their 15 year old daughter, Naoishe. All three speak only a little French and appreciated the time-saving aspect of our service in arranging a schedule of rental properties to view. Finding a property to rent can be a daunting process in France where landlords and agents demand paperwork by the barrowload to prove that you are financially solvent! Louise shortlisted properties for them to view, accompanied them on viewings when required and sorted out all the necessary paperwork to bag them a lovely house with a small garden in the centre of Perpignan.
Since their move, Louise has assisted with ironing out initial problems with the property such as a malfunctioning boiler, opening a bank account, setting up utilities in their names, getting internet, phones and mobiles sorted, finding an intensive French course for Naoisha and researching lycées for her to start a baccalaureat in September 2012.
Annemarie had this to say about our service:
“Louise and Mark Sayers turned what could have been a nightmare, into our dream move. They run a thoroughly professional hand-holding service with the friendly approach of “no job is too big or too small”. Louise and Mark are 100% reliable, friendly, easy to work with, quick to reply to emails / calls. Their service provides a one-stop shop for anyone moving to France. They even introduced us to other Irish and English families who had moved to France. They are a genuinely lovely couple who understand what moving to France is all about.
We’ve all settled in to our new life in France and I have to say we love it, even the teenager !”
Case study – administrative assistance
Andy bought a house in Ille sur Têt in 2010. He lives there when not working offshore but has very limited French. We keep an eye on Andy’s post for him when he is away and sort out any issues arising from it. This can be anything from arranging payment of bills or speeding fines (tut tut!) to drafting replies to any correspondence. Andy was also unfortunate enough to find termites in his property. We researched solutions from him and attend the regular checks required to the termite prevention boxes now installed at his properties (we now know a lot about termites!).
Andy had this to say about our service
“Mark and Louise have been instrumental in making my relocation to France a stress free experience. They have pretty much helped me every step of the way and continue to do so. I have had their assistance all the way from looking for and buying a house, organising local services (electricity, phone and internet connection), the registration and insurance of an imported car. Assisting with the little problems that come your way, including finding and organising someone to treat a termite infestation in my house. As I work away from home for rolonged periods of time its very comforting to know I have someone in France to deal with matters quickly and reliably.”
Case study – setting up a business in France
V and D moved to the Pyrénées-Orientales in early 2012. Both internet marketeers, they wanted to get registered to work in France as soon as possible. This was all the more urgent given that V is pregnant with their first child and they want to ensure they have health cover during pregnancy and for their new baby.
We recommended an English-speaking accountant who could advise them on the best way to set up. They chose to opt for the auto-entrepreneur regime and we have helped them register online, wade through the deluge of paperwork which followed, distinguish the official letters from the scams and register to declare their income and pay their social contributions online.
We have also recommended a gynaecologist and hospital, translated the myriad of paperwork regarding the pregnancy and accompanied them to register at the hospital.
V had this to say about our service
“Finding Louise was a Godsend! Neither my husband nor I speak much French, so it was not without some trepidation that we decided to settle and have our first child here. Having had two children herself in Perpignan, Louise has brought so much more than just French skills to the party. It’s so reassuring to have someone experienced on hand to guide us through the complicated world of the French health system.
Louise offers an extremely professional and efficient service – from healthcare, establishing a business and sourcing tradesmen to food recommendations and even fielding calls about a local allotment! She recently stopped us from paying out over 300 euros to a scam business registration company – worth her weight in gold!”
